El Grullo de Tepoztlán is a naturist hotel where you'll find more than just a health tourism concept; you'll come and be taken care of in a loving way all day long. You'll experience a series of therapies that, while intended for healing, will leave you feeling truly pampered.
Since its inception, El Grullo de Tepoztlán has had a very clear mission: to seek preventive and corrective healing for our guests, in a natural way, through a well-defined program that is applied throughout the day.
We seek to create awareness of our body as a whole and how we can care for it, incorporating a healthier and more natural lifestyle into our daily lives.
Our ethical principles aim to make this benefit as accessible as possible, so we seek out the best, high-quality resources.
Origins of the Program
The program's principle is hydrotherapy combined with herbal extracts and an abundant intake of fruits and vegetables.
The origins of hydrotherapy date back thousands of years, dating back to the Greeks, who used baths to eliminate both physical and spiritual impurities. We have references in different cultures dating back to the 5th century BC, using hot and cold water to treat various pathologies. Later, the Romans built therapeutic baths throughout the empire.
It was in the mid-18th and early 19th centuries that several doctors published the benefits of water healing for various diseases.
The famous priest Sebastian Kneipp (1821-1897), parish priest of Wörishofen (Bavaria), who at the age of 24 suffered from tuberculosis and was given up for dead. He investigated a cure by immersing himself in cold water and then wrapping his body in warm clothing. He subsequently had the opportunity to cure thousands of people with a variety of illnesses, including respiratory problems, arrhythmias, insomnia, nervousness, and even mental and spiritual ailments.
After years of research, he concludes that the 5 pillars that complement each other for health are:
- Hydrotherapy
“If there is a healing remedy for me, it will be water”
- Nutritional therapy
“More from plants, less from animals”
- Physical exercise
“People need to move to be healthy”
- Phytotherapy
“Nature is the best pharmacy”
- - Balance in harmony
"Everything in its time and in the right measure"
One of his disciples, the priest Tadeo Wiesent, after learning everything about hydrotherapy and natural medicine, traveled as a missionary to southern Chile where he learned more about local medicine. There, he met Manuel Lezaeta Acharán, whom he successfully treated. He became his most fervent promoter of his thermal doctrine, appropriating and adapting it to South American culture.
This is how the El Grullo de Tepoztlán program collects, implements, and applies a health system full of experiences in different circumstances, achieving its great effectiveness.
